Eight people are reported dead after thunderstorms that tore up homes and buildings across the South pounded North Carolina Thursday morning.
Columbus County Commissioner Sammie Jacobs says he's stepped
across bodies in order to get to debris to search for other bodies in the remnants of a mobile home park in Riegelwood.
Columbus County is on the North-South Carolina border, west of Wilmington and New Hanover county.
About 100 people spent Thursday night in a shelter, with no home to go to anymore. A dozen people remained in the hospital Friday morning, including four critically injured children.
