Public Pressure Forces Commissioners to Investigate Possible Animal Cruelty

A month ago, we brought you the story of nearly 40 hunting dogs that Humane Society officials say are victims of cruelty. The officials said the dogs had no food and that one dog was dying and another dead. Animal control and the county manager said there were no dead or dying dogs, that the animals had food and just needed deworming. Wilson County Humane Society President Holly Carmichael says she's pleased with the new commission. Animal Control Director Carl Utley and County Manager Ellis Williford were present at Tuesday's meeting, but declined to be interviewed on camera. Utley did say, however, that if he had to start this case over, he would handle it the exact same way.
