A nine-county region around Fayetteville will be one of the nation's two test sites for census takers gearing up for the 20-10 count.
The Fayetteville area was chosen because of its mix of urban, suburban and rural populations and its large military presence.
That's according to officials in the U-S Census Bureau regional office in Charlotte. The region for the test site includes Fort Bragg and Pope Air
Force Base. Officials say it's challenging to get an accurate count of military members.
The other test site is San Joaquin County, just south of Sacramento, California.
Officials will run the test in 2008 with results available in 2009. That will give the Census Bureau time to smooth out glitches and refine its methods before the national head count.
