A Beaufort County teenager died Tuesday from injuries he suffered in a Memorial Day accident.

Christoper Rudd of Chocowinity was 18.

According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, Rudd was traveling north on Herring Run Road in Beaufort County around 11 p.m. when the vehicle he was driving went off the road, overcorrected, flipped and struck a tree.

Rudd was taken to the hospital in Beaufort County then airlifted to Pitt County.

According to the Highway Patrol, two other passengers in Rudd's sport utility vehicle were also taken to the hospital for treatment in Beaufort County.

The Highway patrol say speed was a factor in the accident.

WITN received information from officials that Rudd passed away Wednesday, but we have since received corrected information to confirm he died Tuesday.
