A new plaque at Dowdy Ficklen Stadium brought memories back to the tragic day, when a plane carrying the Marshall football team crashed in West Virginia. Brad Romine mingled with other Marshall fans in attendance Saturday and he said he was 7 years old and listening to the radio when he heard the team he pulled for, had died in that fateful plane crash. But he says that tragedy has turned sadness into a sort of special relationship between the two schools. There was or course, competition on the field, but Pirate fans tried their hardest to make it seem like a home field to the Thundering Herd.
