Contested Races In Eastern Carolina Grab Voters Attention

One of the most hotly contested races in Eastern Carolina was between Democrat C.W. "Pete" Bland and Republican Jean Preston. Preston walked away with a huge win over Bland, winning the District 2 State Senate seat. In the State House District 9 race, voters were closely watching this race between Democrat Marion McLawhorn and Republican Tony Moore. McLawhorn won Tuesday night retaining her house seat. In Beaufort County, Democrat Arthur Williams was trying to retain his District 6 house seat over Republican Hood Richardson, a Beaufort County commissioner. At night's end, Williams won the seat with a huge margin.
