Three people were rescued off a boat taking on water about 27 miles southeast of Morehead City Friday.

Below is the press release from the Coast Guard:

"The Coast Guard, Towboat U.S. and a Good Samaritan worked together to rescue three people aboard a pleasure craft taking on water 27 miles southeast of Morehead City Friday.

Coast Guard watchstanders received a mayday from the crew of the 42-foot sportfisher and issued an Urgent Marine Information Broadcast to enlist the help of any Good Samaritans in the area. The crew of Station Fort Macon launched their 47-foot Motor Life Boat to the position of the sportfisher.

The vessel Gumbay arrived on scene first and began escorting them back to Beaufort, N.C. Two of the Fort Macon crew and one person from Towboat U.S. boarded the sportfisher with dewatering pumps and worked until the sportfisher moored safely at Town Creek Marina in Beaufort."
