Firefighters in Chocowinity in Beaufort County had more than just a fire to deal with, they had the darkness of night, along with a lot of smoke.
Fire officials got the call a little after 7 Saturday evening to 1046 River Hills Road outside of Chocowinity. Family members on the scene say the home belongs to Carol Tyler, a local grandmother, who was out of town at the time of the fire. No flames were seen, but there was a lot of black smoke inside the home.
