367 Fugitives Arrested In Eastern Carolina During National Sweep

Police have arrested 367 fugitives in eastern North Carolina as part of a weeklong national sweep for people charged with crimes but not yet in custody.

Officials say the arrests included 20 people who were wanted for sex offense charges or who hadn't registered as sex offenders. Authorities say 174 arrests were made on drug charges, 114 on financial fraud charges and 87 for burglary and larceny.

Acting U-S Marshal Robert Pettit said 242 of the arrests occurred on the street and 125 others were people who already had been arrested on other charges.

The arrests were part of Operation Falcon Three, in which officers rounded up nearly eleven-thousand fugitives in 24 states east of the Mississippi River.
