Authorities are searching for a Brunswick County teen who was believed to have gotten in a pickup truck with a man after spending hours at a convenience store. A statewide Amber alert was issued Wednesday for 15-year-old Alex Elizabeth Spriggs. Authorities say she left her home about midnight Saturday and walked nearly five miles to a convenience store in Winnabow in Brunswick County. Several law enforcement agencies were searching for Spriggs on foot, in cars and by helicopter Wednesday afternoon. Brunswick Chief Deputy Sheriff Tony Cummings says investigators have discovered a person of interest in the case, but that person was not in custody. Spriggs is 5-foot-1, 120 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair. She was last seen wearing a large puffy black coat with a pink shirt, blue jeans and black shoes.
