There is another confirmed case of whopping cough in Eastern Carolina. One person currently has the cough and 11 others are being monitored in Beaufort County.
This comes after last week's confirmed case in the Grass Ridge community of Hyde County, where there could also be several other cases.
Beaufort County health officials believe the cases are linked.
Health officials say there is no need for panic however. Whooping cough is treatable, but can be dangerous for kids and the elderly.
It's marked by a violent cough that can rob you of breath.
