Even two rainy days couldn't keep this year's North Carolina State Fair out of the top five.
State officials say attendance of nearly 786-thousand people was
fifth best in state history. And the state got three-point-seven
(m) million dollars from the midway operator. That's the fourth
largest amount ever.
State Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler says both numbers
might have been higher if not for two days of rain and a home
football game at North Carolina State University.
Troxler says he will ask university officials if there's a way
to schedule home games around the fair in the future. Both venues
share parking, causing major traffic problems.
Troxler says the dual events hurt fair attendance and are an
inconvenience for N-C State fans.
