Specialty Foods announced the plant in Williamston will be closing its doors for good December 16. The plant is Williamston's largest employer with 125 employees. Company officials say the decision is purely economic. They were able to open up space at another plant in Kentucky. Local economic development officials say the county will take an $8.5 million hit when the plant closes its doors. Specialty Foods owns the property and plans to take all of the factory equipment when they close in December.
