According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, a crop duster pilot took a sudden nose dive in the middle of a residential community Saturday evening. The pilot, identified as William James Brinkley of Dover, crash landed just steps away from West Craven Middle School in Craven County. Officials say the plane's wings snapped in half upon impact. Amazingly, the pilot walked away from the crash with only a broken nose and other minor injuries. Emergency officials say the pilot was treated at Pitt County Memorial Hospital and then released. The cause of the crash is still under investigation by the F.A.A. at this time.
