Historically Black NC Colleges And Universities To Recruit More Hispanics

Hispanics are being targeted by recruiters from historically black colleges and universities, where officials say the shift could deplete enrollments.

Bennett College director of admissions Ulisa Bowles says the
school won't have enough students if there's only one population.
Bowles says the next population to draw the school's attention is
Hispanics.

Data from the U-S Census Bureau shows the number of Hispanics in
North Carolina has increased 600 percent in the past 15 years.

At North Carolina A-and-T, several publications are printed in
Spanish. An A-and-T official says the school also recruits at high
schools with heavy Hispanic populations and is in contact with
organizations that are managed or run by Latinos.
