Sheriff Says Jail Expansion Won't Be Enough

A $20,000,000 expansion of the Pitt County jail apparently isn't going to be enough. The commissioners approved expanding the 404 bed facility in March to add 192 beds. But Pitt County sheriff Mac Manning told the county commissioners he's still afraid the expansion will not be enough, with the prison population constantly increasing. Manning says if the commissioners don't come up with more money for an even bigger expansion, even with the new addition, overcrowding will still be a big problem.
