North Carolina Senator Richard Burr has given a $1000 political contribution from disgraced former Representative Mark Foley to a children's hospital. North Carolina Democratic Party chairman Jerry Meek had urged Burr and others to return the contributions from Foley. Burr says he decided on his own to donate the money to Brenner Children's Hospital in Winston-Salem. He also noted the investigations surrounding state House Speaker Jim Black. Burr says the state Democratic Party had received more than a million dollars from Black since 1998 and redistributed it to state House candidates. He wrote to Meek that he expects Democrats to return the money that Black has donated to the party. A House panel is investigating Foley's sexually charged Internet communications with teenage pages.
