A Connecticut medical device company says it's relocating its manufacturing and research and development operations to Plymouth, bringing with it up to 144 new jobs.

Micro Invasive Technologies will start the relocation process in the next few months. Within two years the company says it anticipates it will train as many as 40 skilled, recession-proof jobs. Once fully operational, employment is expected to reach 144.

MITI will occupy the former Tideland Mental Health Center building during its first year of operation, and will then move to the Washington County Commerce Center at the Plymouth Municipal Airport

MITI is FDA-approved to manufacture and sell its DirectView ™ Minimally Invasive Laparoscopic 10mm System which is used for urology and general surgery.

Fantastic news. Everyone involved with the hard work of bringing in this company to Plymouth should be congratulated on doing a good job for the town of Plymouth and surrounding areas. This is a wonderful start, keep up the search for more of these companies, and soon we will be known as the teck. center of eastern NC. Any way of enticing companies away from the Raleigh area to this beautiful part of NC? Are the community colleges and schools bringing in courses to train in the areas that will be needed. After all, we would like to see employment boosted here, but we need the teck background that will be needed for these jobs. It looks like a win, win situation. Thank you for all of your hard work.
