The North Carolina State Fair lured nearly 800,000 people to the fairgrounds in Raleigh in 2005. Hundreds of thousands are expected to attend this year to enjoy the rides, concerts, exhibits and food. You'll even be able to find Fried Coke at the State Fair for the first time this year.
In the Forestry Section of the exhibits, you can see a piece of Pitt County history. The Lewis Family Sawmill is on permanent display at the State Fair. It was operated on the H.L. Lewis Family Farm in the Belvoir area of Pitt County between 1910 and the early 1970s.
