The second fire in three weeks destroyed a young couple’s home in the Robersonville town of Martin County.
The couple says they left the home that was originally built in 1892 on Monday morning to visit family in Greenville only to return to see their house totally engulfed in flames.
Officials say the blaze began a little after 1 a.m. Tuesday morning and continued to burn well into the afternoon. Robersonville Fire and Rescue officials say the flames spread quickly through the house due to the home's old wood framing.
The couple's family member says the two lost just about everything in the blaze.
Officials from Robersonville Fire and Rescue are still investigating the cause of the house fire.
No one was hurt in the blaze and the couple is staying with family members.
