Former Bethel Police Chief Reginald Roberts was in U.S. District Court Tuesday morning on a motion to hire new legal representation.
Roberts' motion for a new public defender was granted, but the motion means his trial date, which was set for later this month, will likely be continued until December.
Roberts faces drug trafficking and firearms charges. In his letter to the court, Roberts stated he felt his lawyer wasn't accessible and wished for legal representation closer to Eastern Carolina.
