Keeping Kids In School

Discipline problems, gangs, long-term suspensions and turning 16 are all factors when it comes to kids dropping out of school.

Now, a new legislative committee will spend the next several months studying North Carolina's drop out rate and suggest ways to keep students in school.

The select committee will examine the impact quitting school has on a student and the cost of raising the compulsory attendance age above 16.
