Onslow Labeled "Tsunami Ready"

One coastal county just became the first in the state to be certified tsunami ready.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration just handed that certification down to Onslow County. Onslow County emergency management says preparing for such a scenario in eastern Carolina is not far fetched. Officials say it's not a matter of if a tsunami will hit, but when. In order to achieve the designation as tsunami ready, a community must establish a 24-hour warning point and emergency operations center, have more than one way to receive tsunami and severe weather warnings, create a system that monitors local weather conditions, promote the importance of public readiness and develop a formal hazardous weather plan.
