All it takes now is President Bush's signature. Soon, North Carolina is expected to own the Mattamuskeet Lodge in Hyde County. The U.S. Senate approved a bill Friday to transfer ownership of the lodge from the federal government to the state. The feds have been in control of the lodge because its on a national wildlife refuge. Local folks, as well as lawmakers pushed for a bill to give control to the state, since nothing was being done to restore the building. That's a multi million dollar project. The nearly 70 year old lodge sits on Lake Mattamuskeet, the largest natural lake in North Carolina.
