Some new laws went into effect in North Carolina Sunday that will help keep your personal information safer.
According to North Carolina Attorney General, Roy Cooper, the new laws will require the government to inform people when their information has been lost or stolen. The laws also put limits on how businesses can use social security numbers. Businesses can no longer print customers social security numbers on mailings or require their customers to forward their social security number over an insecure Internet connection.
