Officials are calling it a groundbreaking for not just Pamlico Community College, but for Pamlico County as a whole. Friday at noon, dignitaries, residents, and teachers gathered for a groundbreaking at Pamlico Community College for a new $3 million facility that will house a 750 seat auditorium, classrooms, laboratories, and more. But county officials also plan to use it as a hurricane shelter for the county, a site that's desperately needed. The facility will be called the "Life Care Learning Center" and will house the Allied Health Department. It's set to open in 2007.
