You may not recognize the town of Williamston in Martin County this weekend... that's because the 10 annual Country Stampede is taking over. Downtown Williamston is set up for vendors, concerts, and carnival rides. The festivities kick off Friday night at six and organizers are expecting thousands to visit Williamston for musical performances by The Embers and Sammy Kershaw. Sheri Copeland is the director of the Martin County Chamber of Commerce. She says record attendance is expected for the decade-old festival. The festival will also feature a country music showdown. The winner will have a chance at a national title and a $100,000 grand prize.
