A winter weather advisory has been issued for all of eastern Carolina except Carteret, Onslow, and Duplin counties from 6pm Thursday through 4am Friday. Light freezing rain and sleet will be possible.
Businesses and homeowners in eastern North Carolina counties can now get federal disaster relief for damages related to Tropical Storm Ernesto.
The Small Business Administration declared a disaster in nine counties, some of which suffered severe flooding after Ernesto passed through the region early this month. The agency will provide low-interest loans to help pay for recovery costs.
The declaration covers Carteret, Craven, Duplin, Jones, Lenoir,
Onslow, Pender, Sampson and Wayne counties.
