A grandfather is dead, a grandmother hospitalized, and police say their grandson is to blame.
The shooting happened around 10:30AM, Tuesday morning in Kinston, on Rouse Road, near the Wayne Chapel AME Zion Church.
Lawmen say 69-year-old Robert Bryant and 66-year-old Mildred Bryant were shot several times in their sport utility vehicle by their grandson, 33-year-old Marlon Williams.
Officials also say evidence suggests one of the Bryants shot at Marlon as well.
Robert Bryant was pronounced dead at Lenoir Memorial Hospital. Mildred was taken by East Care to Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
Those who know the Bryants say they just can't believe this happened.
Lawmen are still searching for Williams, who they believe could be injured.
The North Carolina Department of Corrections shows Williams was convicted of armed robbery in 1990.
