Drivers who use U.S. 64 near Bethel in Pitt County may need to plan for a six-mile detour Monday.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation says CSX Railroad is doing maintenance repairs to the railroad crossing on U.S. 42 just northeast of Bethel.

The detour will take drivers from U.S. 64 to Carson Rd., to House Rd., to N.C. 11 and back to U.S. 64.

This is expected to be a one day project, beginning at 8 a.m. Monday and wrapping up at 5 p.m.
