I'm proud of what our Sheriff's Dept in Carteret County is accomplishing. This is truly a major change over our prior Sheriff and his 2nd in command. I'd be willing to bet the evidence doesn't disappear on this case, and there will in fact be a trial, where in the past, where drugs were involved, many times the evidence disapeared. Support the Sheriff and his deputies, don't hesitate to call them when you think something isn't right, or appears suspicious, many times when things don't look right, they really aren't. They need your help and input to clean our county of the major drug problems surrounding us in every community. I'm proud that we finally have a department to be proud of.

the punishment for trafficking in opium, ie prescription pain pills containing opiates, is as follows: level 1= more than 4 grams but less than 14 grams minimum mandatory 70-84 months active level 2= more than 14 grams but less than 28 grams minimum mandatory 90-170 months active level 3= 28 grams or more minimum mandatory 225-270 months active. dont let the months part fool you, in a level three that equals 18.75 to 24 years. prescription pills are becoming the drug of choice because not only can you get them from a doctor, but you can steal them from people as well. as a note to parents, remember all that pain medicine you have in the cabinet, well your teenager is apt to be sneaking some if you aren't careful. please throw it out if you don't need it. people are getting serious time for these drugs and don't realize the potential jail time for selling them. by the way, i don't think law enforcement will come after you for transporting your own medicine from the pharmacy
