A mother suing a local county school board presented her case to the North Carolina Court of Appeals Wednesday.
Revondia Harvey-Barrow is suing the Beaufort County Board of Education. Harvey-Barrow says her daughter, Viktoria King, was unfairly suspended for 365 days from enrolling in any school in North Carolina.
Southside High School in Chocowinity punished the teen and other girls after a fight there in January 2008. Harvey-Barrow says it was unfair that her daughter, whom she says did not start the fight, was suspended for a full year, while others were allowed to return to Southside or go to alternative schools.
We are told the three-judge panel who heard the case Wednesday will now deliberate, and a decision will be announced within 90 days.

To:Anonymous,NWparent, and the rest of you of that are talking a bunch of (junk). To you, NWparent, your comment tells the world it has everthing to do about race. Some whites do get along with some of us blacks, and it's not that they want or try. They do it. And vice versa. To say that blacks are the most (prejudice on God's earth) is a lie and (you know it). You NEED to look up the HISTORY. This was just the opportunity to lash out at blacks. May God forgive you. As for you,Anonymous,no matter how children or daddies there are; it doesn't change the fact the child still have a right to an EDUCATION. Even prisoners, gays and lesbians, and people with mental illnesses have rights. GOD is NOT pleased and yes he has everything to do with it. Back in the 60's and 70's prayer was in school and when God is not in it you can look for problems. I love evrybody. I don't agree with everything nor do I understand everything people say and do,but I love them. Lean not to your own understanding.
It's crazy that the child was kicked for an entire year, for one fight. Kids are going to be kids. Not that it's o.k. for the to fight in school or any other place. That was a really harsh penalty. I personally think that the school system is setting these children up for failure. If the school system gives up on the youth, some of the children will have nobody to turn to. For the love of Jesus they're children. Some of us adults have done much worst, but just didn't get caught. God is forgiven. Who are we not to forgive? Judge not lest you be judged. I pray for her family and for the system. We (all) make mistakes. Give her another chance.
to: tad jamesville, if there's 5 children , then you can bet there's at least 5 different dads . Maybe if she called obamma she can get her unruly child a BAILOUT !
