Thursday marks the one year anniversary of Hurricane Ophelia hitting our state. The fact that Ophelia took so long to move across our coast was perhaps the biggest factor in the damage to our state. That damage is still evident in Carteret County. Homer's Point Seafood Market in Salter Path was hit extremely hard, causing over $200,000 in damage to Mike Fiorini's family business, a storm he wasn't ready for. Damage estimates for Hurricane Ophelia were over 70 million dollars.
