THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NEWPORT/MOREHEAD CITY HAS ISSUED A FLOOD WATCH FOR A PORTION OF EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA... INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING AREAS...IN EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA... BEAUFORT...CRAVEN...DUPLIN...GREENE...JONES...LENOIR...
MARTIN...ONSLOW...PITT AND WASHINGTON.
.. FROM NOON EDT TUESDAT THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING
.. SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WITH LOCALLY HEAVY RAIN WILL DEVELOP OVER EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA AHEAD OF A COLD FRONT THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT. 1 TO 2 INCHES OF RAIN IS EXPECTED OVER THE AREA WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE. THE SOIL IS SATURATED DUE
TO HEAVY RAIN LAST WEEK FROM TROPICAL STORM ERNESTO...AND SOME AREAS STILL HAVE HIGH WATER. ANY HEAVY RAIN WILL LIKELY INCREASE THE CURRENT FLOODING AND PRODUCE ADDITIONAL MINOR TO MODERATE FLOODING...MAINLY ALONG AND WEST OF HIGHWAY 17.
.. A FLOOD WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR FLOODING BASED ON
CURRENT FORECASTS.

YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE ALERT FOR POSSIBLE
FLOOD WARNINGS. THOSE LIVING IN AREAS PRONE TO FLOODING SHOULD BE
PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLOODING DEVELOP.
