Some Grifton residents were dealing with flood waters throughout much of the town. Most were spared flooded homes, but were trapped nonetheless. Nicholas Moran's family was among those trapped in their homes because of the flooding. Moran ferried his family to dry land so they could get to the grocery store, and he helped some neighbors as well as some animals caught in the water. Michelle Hardy stood nearby watching. After Ernesto, she and her husband are thinking of moving closer into town and wanted to make sure they knew which streets were prone to flooding before they picked a new home. Grifton emergency personnel evacuated eight people this morning after flood waters threatened their homes.
