Summer Is Over With Students All Across Eastern Carolina Now In School

Nearly 23,000 students joined 1600 teachers for the first day of class at Pitt County schools.

Parents tested out a new morning routine and students tested out new food in the school cafeterias.

According to school administrators, Monday's start was quiet and smooth.

Lori Stone, a second grade teacher at Sadie Saulter Elementary School, said a book reading helped her class settle in to the new school year.
