Tens of thousands of abandoned mobile homes dot the North Carolina landscape. A construction landfill in Pitt County is doing what it can to help solve the problem. E.J.E. Recycling breaks down the homes, strips off the recyclable materials and easily compacts the remaining debris into the landfill. E.J.E. demolition supervisor, Mark Saieed, says the on-site processing takes about ten minutes. According the U.S. Census bureau, in 2005 North Carolina had the fourth highest number of manufactured home placements in the U.S, nearly 5,000 homes.
