A hearing is scheduled at Fort Bragg in the case of an Army sergeant who was recalled to duty to be tried on three murder charges after he was acquitted in state court of similar charges.
The hearing today for Master Sgt. Timothy B. Hennis is expected
to deal with defense and prosecution motions.
The 50-year-old Hennis was recalled to duty in 2006 so he could be charged in the deaths of 31-year-old Kathryn Eastburn and her two young daughters in 1985. Hennis was stationed at Fort Bragg when the slayings occurred at the Eastburn's off-post home.
Hennis' state court conviction and death sentence was overturned on appeal and a second jury acquitted him. He retired in 2004.
His trial is scheduled to begin July 6.
