Power to the entire town of Belhaven was out this morning for some eight hours.

Town manager Guinn Leverett says power went out around 3:00 a.m. when the feed from Dominion Power failed.

They traced the problem to the power company's substation in Pantego.

Power came back on just before 10:30 a.m.

Some 2,000 residents were impacted. The town's water and sewer systems were on generator power, as well as a few businesses during the outage.

Need to ask why the towns generators did not come on. They had to start them manually. The problem was traced by Dominion not Belhaven Power.
