Tough Sex Offender Bill Signed Into Law By Governor Easley

Governor Mike Easley signed it Wednesday. It requires that the worst offenders, those considered sexually violent predators, repeat offenders and those convicted of sexual offenses with aggravated circumstances, be fitted with lifetime satellite or GPS tracking devices to monitor their whereabouts. Convicted offenders will also be required to report to law enforcement officials, in-person, every six months, rather than the current once a year by phone or mail.
