The Employment Security Commission of North Carolina has released county-by-county unemployment data for October, and the news is not good.

Out of 30 counties in Eastern Carolina, 21 counties had higher unemployment rates in October than in September.

Edgecombe County is tied for the highest unemployment rate in the state, at 11.6%. Scotland County also has an 11.6% unemployment rate.

Statewide, the unemployment rate is at the highest it's been for all of 2008, at 7%, when seasonally adjusted.

These counties in Eastern Carolina did not see their unemployment rate increase: Duplin; Gates; Greene; Hertford; Nash; Onslow; Perquimans; Washington; and Wilson.

Doesnt the unemployment rate always go up right before Christmas? Hey, Obama and his merry carnival of clowns will save everything.All on the first day before the sun goes down.All because of 3 words"Yes we can". What a bunch of baloney. HAHAHAHAHA!!!

Yes i live in edgecombe county and its bad. I know its bad everywhere right now but its dangerously bad. People are getting desperate. And desperate times calls for desperate measures. i am a well educated female and its hard to find a job, there is a freeze on everything. If we dont start getting help QUICK i am afraid to think what might happen. It's time to PRAY. If you never have before it's time to start. Good luck to everybody. Hopefully 2009 will be better than 2008.
