Saturday marks the 45th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

He was shot while riding in his motorcade in Dallas, Texas and died soon after.

Lee Harvey Oswald was charged with killing the 35th president of the United States, though many doubt he acted alone.

At the time of his death, JFK left behind his wife, Jacqueline, and two young children, Caroline and John.

He is buried at Arlington National Cemetery.

The nation was shocked by the shooting. People talk about where they were or what they were doing when they heard the news. We invite you to comment and tell us what you remember.

I was in 8th grade, it was lunchtime, and someone who had a transistor radio was playing the news break about Kennedy being shot and taken to Parkland Hospital. My junior high was less than 30 min. away from Dallas. All I remember was the crying and sorrow like we had lost a favorite uncle. The principal came over the intercom in the next period (I was in Science) and said a prayer for his family after announcing Kennedy was dead. My sister's Brownies were to meet that afternoon, but the my mom and her co-leader cancelled. This was a day that changed life in the USA.

I wasn't born yet when JFK was assassinated, but I remember 1968 when his brother Robert was murdered. I have often wondered what kind of a world we would be in if both brothers would have lived. I wish it would be a better one. God bless you both, Jack and Bobby. We need you.

I was in the 9th grade at Druid Hills High School in Atlanta, GA. I happened to be in the Principal's Office when WSB Radio in Atlanta came on with the news. It as then announced over the PA system. I never did see the Principal, they sent me back to class and we listened to the radio over the PA until the dismissal bell rang. No, I wasn't in trouble, I had gone to the office at the request of my teacher for some reason I long forgot.
