Police say they will now charge the driver of a truck that killed three people back in September.

Kinston police say Aubrey Weddle will face three counts of misdemeanor death by motor vehicle. Police say he was traveling north on Highway 258 when his 18-wheeler ran a red light at the U.S. 70 intersection.

Killed in the crash were 71 year old Barbara Faasii, 73 year old Geraldine Farron West Kean and 82 year old James Harvey Mewborn.

I'm not sure if everyone sees the most obvious curiosity about this horrible crash. If I had ran over another human being and killed them as a result of my running a traffic light, then I may very well have a stroke because of the stress I experienced after realizing what I had done and how violent a death I had caused. In my humble opinion, I believe the truck driver had his stroke AFTER seeing the devasting circumstances. It does not matter that he had a stroke before or after the wreck. Bottom line- he went through a red light while others were abiding by the law, which got them killed. I may be wrong but I think he got so upset when the depth of what he had done finally set in and had a stroke. I would have probably had a heart attack and died right there. I don't know if I could live with my conscience after that. My sincere prayers go out to both families.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims of this tragic accident and the truck driver also. I do not recall reading anything that indicated the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. If that had been the case, I would be voting to hang him. Without drugs or alcohol involved, it appears to be a terrible accident, that in the blink of an eye could be one of us. I doubt anyone that has driven a vehicle has not run through a stop sign or a red light, just by the grace of God . . .

Hey stupid! They do have rules for truck drivers to have regular medical check ups. It's called a DOT physical. Word at the scene of the accident was that the driver MAY have suffer a mild heart attack or stroke. NOTHING except being hooked to the proper equipment at the hospital could foresee this happening, if in fact it did. Pray for ALL families involved here and think what could you do to avoid something of this magnitude. He MAY have actually ran the stoplight. WE do not know. I myself had a medical emergency in Kinston one day and through the grace of God, drove myself to the hospital. Don't fault this driver because he is a driver. Things happen. You may one day be caught in a similar situation, but I pray not.

Where does it say he had a stroke and that's what caused the accident? Even if so, I don't believe the truck driver was charged because he was a truck driver. I think anyone who plowed over and killed 3 people would be charged, no matter the vehicle. I agree truckers need closer check ups. Their vehicles are much more dangerous than the average vehicle and add to that the way they like to tailgate and push you out of their way. Behind the wheel of a truck is no place for a driver with medical problems. Driving is a priviledge, not a right.

To anonymous,,There are rules and laws. You have a medical card that you have to get checked and renewed every 2 years. Something like a stoke comes on without a warning. Know the laws B 4 you put down a DRIVER. The next time you go to a store and spend money on something,,,,think how it got there so you could buy it. If you think things are bad now. Think about this. ALL the trucks in the world stop and shut down for 48 hrs. WHAT WOULD YOU DO ? No food,no gas, no anything. The next time you go Home and lay down to sleep..think how your house got there. Drivers bringing in the stuff to put it there. DO you understand now.

Did the truck driver have a previous medical condition that should've stopped him from driving or at least warranted periodic check ups? HE RAN A RED LIGHT AND 3 PEOPLE ARE DEAD. Maybe there should be rules/laws regarding health check ups for truck drivers, especially since they " cannot stop on a dime".

First, I continue to pray for all of the families that were involved in this horrible situation. Now, with my said, I think that it is a shame when you charge a driver when a medical condition like having a stoke is what caused the accident. People there is no warning before having a stroke so there was nothing that this driver could do. In my opinion he is only being charged because of the fact that he was a truck driver.

My heart goes out to both families in this tragic accident. God Bess the families that lost their loved ones and also the driver of the tractor and his family as well.

didn't the driver of the truck have a medical reason for running the stop light? a stroke?

I have just retired from truck driving after 22 years.I am Happy to say in 22 years I was never in an Accident. I have seen so crazy driving out there.I feel so sorry for the Family of these people and the truck driver.People,,let me tell you this- I have seen a lot of cars pull out right in front of a 18 wheeler. When you are pulling a full load you can not stop on a dime. So please truckers slow down and cars, give them a little room. They are not out there to hurt you or get in your way. They are bringing in the things you use every day.So in closing I will say to the Family,,,GOD love and be with you in this time of need. And to the truck driver,GOD be with you to.
