A winter weather advisory for some of our northern counties has been cancelled, as snowfall has diminished and temperatures are now above freezing.
Snow has accumulated on the grass and on decks in Bertie County, while there are reports of moderate snow at Kill Devil Hills and Southern Shores in Dare County.
The National Weather Service says any snow on secondary roads will now quickly melt. The advisory was for Bertie, Camden, Chowan, Pasquotank and Perquimans counties.
Snow has also been reported in Greenville, Kinston, Pollocksville and in Washington. One school system, Elizabeth City/Pasquotank County schools, delayed classes by two hours this morning because of the snow.
Snow was also seen early Friday from Boone to Lexington, Greensboro, Chapel Hill and the Raleigh-Durham area.

WITN Meteorologist Jim Howard says while some areas could receive a light coating of snow, roads should not be impacted.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service said it is expected the snowfall won't last very long, and what does fall could leave a light dusting on grassy and elevated surfaces. Western portions could see up to a half-inch of snow.
A strong cold front will create gusty winds through Friday afternoon. Combined with dry, windy conditions from earlier in the week, authorities are advising residents in central North Carolina that burning dry leaves is not recommended.
Highs will only reach the 40s on Friday and Saturday with lows in the 20s.
