A big find of lawmen at one UPS terminal here in Eastern Carolina. Twenty pounds of pot was found November 7th in Chowan County.

Officers resealed and delivered to package to its original destination in Washington County where two men were arrested.

Rolando Padron and Martin Palacios were charged with trafficking marijuana. A Ford truck was also seized.

Tyrrell County deputies say Padron has been a long time resident of Tyrrell County. They believe the pot was going to be repackaged and distributed in both Tyrrell and Washington counties.

Street value of the marijuana is between $50,000 and $115,000.

Not that I condone the use of it ILLEGALLY but I personally do feel that it does serve a medicinal purpose. If there was a way to keep it medicinal then great but I just don't forsee that happeneing ANYTIME soon. It's too complicated to control. I also agree with the point that there are many other LEGAL things FAR worse than marijuana when used in excess. Why are they no more "bad" than weed?

Posted by: DK Location: Greenville on Nov 20, 2008 at 08:28 AM
Alpha. Sounds like you got a hold of some sherm. Weed laced with PCP. Angel dust. Weed would not do that to you. Most people that smoke weed for the first time do not get any effects from it. People that think that weed is sooooooo bad are misinformed. Weed doesnt ruin someones future. Plenty of successful people smoke weed. Ive also seen alcohol ruin marriages and lives. Why is it still legal?

Posted by: Anon on Nov 20, 2008 at 06:50 AM
To Alpha- sounds to me like it wasn't just pot you smoked. Seen it all- Marijuana is NOT addictive. It has been said to have the potential to be "habit forming," but that can be applied to almost any pleasant human activity. I smoked my fair share of mary jane in college and maintained my 3.9 (sorry, not an over achiever). When my husband and I decided to get married, we decided illegal drug use wouldn't be a part of that marriage. I haven't smoked bud in over 13 years and I have a highly addictive personality.

ALPHA.. You shouldn't have taken that second "puff". One usually does the trick.LOL

My family took a summer vacation trip to an island in the Netherland Antilles. As soon as we got off the ship islanders were trying to sell us weed. Kids were smoking it, tourist, the islanders, dogs were stumbling and falling over from the buzz. My kids weren't allowed to smoke, but when we put them to bed..my husband and I went back on the beach. I never smoked weed before until that night.. I took 2 puffs, inhaled and it did something to my brain. I screamed and flopped my arms around uncontrollable 4 four hours. The entire island was cry and yelling "she's killing my high" I thought I was going to die. My husband tried it, he cried because he was in no shape to help me, he tripped over someone and broke his foot. I can't imagine how people function on marijuana. Great job getting it off the street.

I am sick and tired of someone saying "leagalize pot"!!!! I have personally seen pot ruin the marriages of people I know, seen students in school turn into potheads and ruin their future, seen families destitute due to being hooked on pot. Don't tell me it is not addictive. I have seen so much of this beginning in the 60's and still continuing today. I absolutely have no sympathy for anyone dealing/selling pot! I hope all of them rot in hell!!!!!

I can agree with that to a certain degree. My honest opinion is that marijuana is bad for the simple fact of it being illegal. To my knowledge there has yet to be ANYONE to die from a direct use of it. Not to say that it's necessarily right but it IS used for medicinal purposes also where no other type of drug is. There IS a reason to that. IF it was legalized it would probably cause a few more problems initially but the big deal would be the government having to tax it and such. WOW what chaos that would be for the country right now. If it was legal how many people would think that it is so "WRONG AND BAD"? Nowhere near asmany that do now but it is what it is and it is illegal so why do it?

To Anonumous, the person who said leve them alone is just burnt b/c they never recieved their package. lol. KIDDING KIDDING>

Posted by: DK Location: Greenville on Nov 19, 2008 at 03:42 PM
Make marijuanna legal and you wouldnt have to deal with this stuff. it aint nowhere near as bad as alcohol. how much money would the government make/save if they just let people take puff every now and then? time for the government to step up and make this stuff legal. not crack and heroin and all that. just weed.
