A Carteret County woman is now receiving shots, after she was bitten by a rabid fox this weekend. It happened Saturday in Newport. The woman was working in her yard when the fox charged at her from a wooded area. A family member saw the attack and killed the fox, which tested positive for rabies. The woman will get five doses of treatment against rabies, which are given as shots in the arm.
