Residents in one eastern Carolina County... Hit head on Saturday by a early morning tornado...Were out sifting through the mess again today. Rescue workers are now on the scene lending a helping hand, though.

Volunteers with The North Carolina Baptist Men and the American Red Cross began working in Elm City In Wilson County Sunday.

The twister came through London Church Road, killing an 11 year old boy.

Today his relatives picked through the house-- which was about 20 or more feet-- from its foundation, in search of precious belongings.

Volunteers say, many people searched, tirelessly, for their wallets and keys to vehicles that were unscathed.

It's a tough scene for those who lived through it and volunteers who came out to be of service to their neighbors.

Those who lost their homes, were able to stay in area hotels or with family according to Wilson county officials.
