Authorities have reopened one courthouse here in Eastern Carolina after a envelope with powdery substance was found.

It happened Thursday morning at the Lenoir County courthouse in downtown Kinston.

Authorities secured the office where the envelope was delivered to and employees who had contact with the envelope were temporarily isolated.

As a precaution, the courthouse was shut down and nonessential personnel were kept out.

The samples were sent for testing in Raleigh. Lenoir County Health Department Director Joey Huff says the first round of tests are complete and all came back negative for all contaminants they tested for. Huff says a second round of testing is underway, and they should know later today what the powder is. We'll keep you posted on the results.
