It's believed lightning sparked a massive fire at a Greene County plant early Tuesday morning. Officials think the lightning started a bale of kenaf on fire at the Greene Natural Fibers plant, which is located about five miles outside of Snow Hill. The call came in around 6 a.m. as the flames jumped from bale to bale. Crews from six counties had to be called to the scene. The Greene Natural Fibers plant suffered a massive fire nearly two years ago. Lawmen say that one was a case of arson. Kenaf fiber is used to make many things, including rope and animal bedding.
