The 2006 Pepsi Americas' Sail has thousands among thousands of people flocking to the Crystal Coast and the Beaufort waterfront. It's certainly a hot event...both popular, and weather wise. Health officials had a quick fix to the high temperatures and staggering humidity on Sunday. Pepsi and the Minges Bottling Group donated sixty thousand bottles of water and a couple thousand pounds of ice. Also, water vapor sprays, rain tents, and chilled fans were all brought in to help keep visitors cool. There were a number of heat related incidents on Saturday, but officials say that number drastically declined on Sunday.
